No-Fly UK Cruises That Don't Leave From Southampton
Beccy Miller
Thinking about taking a no-fly cruise but not sure you want to go from Southampton? Perhaps you live in the North and don't fancy the trek down, or want to go from somewhere quieter? We've got a great selection of UK departures from a variety of different cruise lines and ports.
Norwegian Cruise Line
NCL pioneered the freestyle cruising concept, doing away with set meal times. formal dress codes and introducing an easygoing cruise atmosphere. NCL doesn't traditionally have a ship based in the UK, so when they do, they always get booked up quickly.
Recently refurbished Norwegian Star is going to be sailing from Portsmouth in 2024 and doing a tour of the beautiful British Isles over 10 nights. She has 10 different dining options and 10 bars and lounges, so it's the perfect length of cruise to try each one.
Oceania
If you're after a touch of luxury, then consider choosing Oceania for your next no-fly cruise. Marina and Riviera are sailing out of the UK this year, from Belfast and Portsmouth, they will be venturing to the capitals of Northern Europe and offering an in-depth exploration of Ireland.
It's impossible to talk about Oceania without mentioning the food. Proudly boasting The Finest Cuisine At Sea, not only will you experience exquisite dining, but the love for food carries over to the enrichment programs and land tours available. Take a cooking class onboard in the state-of-the-art Culinary Center, or venture out on a unique tour, created to showcase the cuisine of the areas you are sailing to.
Fred. Olsen
Family-run Fred. Olsen's offers traditional-style cruising from Rosyth (Edinburgh), Liverpool, Newcastle, Dover and Portsmouth. Choose from a wide range of itineraries; head north for stunning scenery or south for sunshine.
Their smaller ships allow them to access more interesting places, such as Norway's lesser-known Fjords, such as Næroyfjord. Being able to navigate narrow waterways and size-restricted bridges means they are also able to dock in the heart of some of the world's most fascinating cities like Seville.
Carnival
Want a fun family holiday? Carnival have you covered! America's favourite cruise line are back in Europe for 2023. Carnival Pride is sailing from Dover this summer, with a range of itineraries to pick from. Explore the rugged landscapes of Iceland, the green mountains of Norway or the medieval cities of the Baltics.
Kids will love the collaboration with Dr Suess, which includes special character breakfasts and events. The waterworks section of the ship will also prove popular too, with a pool and waterslides. Grown-ups are also catered for with thrilling shows, comedy acts and a range of live music to enjoy, ensuring a memorable holiday for everyone.
Ambassador
Ambassador Cruise Line launched last year, the first British cruise line to come to the market since 2010. With an expert management team, they set out to offer fine dining and thoughtfully designed itineraries to popular destinations on classic cruise ships. Their cruises are generally adult-only, although they do offer selected multi-generational cruises which are perfect for getting the wider family together.
They sail from Bristol, Falmouth, Dundee, Liverpool, Newcastle, Belfast and London Tilbury and as well as the usual no-fly destinations such as the Fjords and the Iberian coast, you can travel across the Atlantic to the Caribbean or down to Africa and Cape Verde.
